Fella Friday x Max Kerman From The Arkells
Scottie Upshall and Shane O'Brien of the Missing Curfew podcast recently interviewed Max Kerman, the frontman of the Canadian band The Arkells. In the episode, Max talks about the preparation and production that goes into planning a tour, and how it feels to not have to lug an amp into a venue anymore. He compares this feeling to the feeling of playing junior hockey in Ontario, where you don't have to bring your own bag into the rink.
Max also talks about the new Arkells album, Laundrypile, and what fans can expect from it. He explains that the goal was to not overdo it, and that the band wanted to be open minded and take the good parts from what they had done before, while also trying new things. He also talks about the importance of presentation, citing Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen as examples of performers who take their presentation seriously.
Max shares stories of playing street hockey with Rob Pearson and attending the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, and his experience playing at the historic Kita Balla venue in Muskoka, Ontario. He also talks about the advantages of getting a tour bus for a bachelor party, and how it can be used to visit multiple cities. Finally, Max expresses his appreciation for the hockey community and the opportunities it has provided him.
Max Kerman is an inspiration to many, and his words are sure to resonate with fans of The Arkells and hockey alike. As he said in the podcast, "It's a great feeling to be able to do something that you love and have it be your job."
